Type or use the mouse wheel over a field. Deep link: /timer/?m=25
How to set a flip clock timer
Setting the timer takes a few seconds: choose a preset or type the exact length, pick an alarm sound, and press Start. The same steps work on phones and desktop:
- Pick a preset button (5, 10, 15, 25, 30, 45, or 60 minutes) or type hours, minutes, and seconds into the three fields.
- Choose an alarm sound (Chime, Beep, Arp, Bell, or Pulse) and set the volume. Selecting a tone plays a short preview.
- Press Start to begin. The remaining time folds onto large flip digits and the browser tab title mirrors the countdown.
- Use Start again to pause, Reset to restore the typed length, and Repeat to restart automatically after each finish.
Presets and direct links
Seven presets cover the most requested countdown lengths, from a quick five minute break to a one hour session. Every length also has an address: add ?m= to the timer URL with any value from 1 to 999, so you can bookmark favorites or send the exact length to someone else.
| Preset | Direct link |
|---|---|
| 5 minutes | /timer/?m=5 |
| 10 minutes | /timer/?m=10 |
| 15 minutes | /timer/?m=15 |
| 25 minutes | /timer/?m=25 |
| 30 minutes | /timer/?m=30 |
| 45 minutes | /timer/?m=45 |
| 60 minutes | /timer/?m=60 |
Alarm sound and notification
Choose an alarm tone from the dropdown and set the volume slider. Selecting a tone plays a short preview, and reaching zero plays the full sound with a Time is up message. The browser asks once for notification permission on the first start. Grant it to receive a system note alongside the sound, which helps when the tab sits in the background.
Accurate in background tabs
The timer stores its end moment as a timestamp and recomputes the remainder from your device clock on every update. Switching tabs, minimizing the window, or briefly sleeping the device does not skew the result the way counted ticks would. Keep the volume up and the tab audible for the alarm, since muted tabs and full system sleep can suppress sound.
Good uses for a flip timer
Study sessions pair well with a 25 or 50 minute countdown on a second screen, since the large digits show the remaining time without opening another app. Cooks set quick reminders for steeping, resting dough, or oven checks. Trainers run interval blocks with Repeat on, and teachers project the timer during silent reading or group tasks. Because the page needs no account, each use starts in seconds on any shared computer.

Frequently asked questions
How do I set a flip clock timer?
Pick one of the seven presets (5, 10, 15, 25, 30, 45, or 60 minutes) on Flip Clock AI, or type hours, minutes, and seconds into the fields, then press Start. The countdown folds onto large flip digits while the tab title mirrors it. Start doubles as Pause, Reset restores your typed length, and Repeat restarts automatically after each finish.
Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes, Flip Clock AI stores the end time as a timestamp, so switching tabs or minimizing the window does not pause the countdown. The remaining time is recomputed from your device clock on every update rather than counted tick by tick. The browser tab title also shows the live countdown.
Will the alarm sound in a muted tab?
No, a muted tab always silences audio, so keep the Flip Clock AI tab audible and your system volume up. The countdown still hits zero exactly and the page shows Time is up. The alarm plays through the volume slider, and if you granted the one time notification permission a system note appears that does not depend on sound.
Can the timer play a sound when it ends?
Yes, choose an alarm sound on Flip Clock AI from Chime, Beep, Arp, Bell, or Pulse and set the volume slider to a comfortable level. Selecting a tone plays a short preview. When the countdown reaches zero, the full sound plays and the page shows Time is up. Grant the one time notification permission for a system note too.
Can I link directly to a 25 minute timer?
Yes, add ?m=25 to the Flip Clock AI timer address, for example flipclockai.com/timer/?m=25, and the page opens preset to 25 minutes. Any value from 1 to 999 works the same way, so you can bookmark favorite lengths or share them with others. The recipient sees the same starting value on their own device and presses Start.
